DPBIO is a leading innovator in single-cell analysis and antibody screening technologies. We are seeking a Senior Field Application Scientist (FAS) / Sales professional based in Boston or San Francisco to support our customers and expand our presence across the United States.
Position Overview
This full-time role combines hands-on scientific support with consultative sales, with approximately 80% of responsibilities focused on field applications and 20% on sales activities. You will guide customers from initial technical discussions and live demonstrations through the sales process, instrument installation, training, and ongoing application support.
You will work with BioPharma, Biotech, CRO/CDMO organizations, and research institutes, supporting applications in antibody discovery, enzyme evolution, and related fields. The ideal candidate combines strong scientific expertise with commercial awareness and can independently lead customer demonstrations, troubleshoot complex application issues, and collaborate with the Sales team to advance opportunities toward purchase.
Based in Boston or San Francisco, you will support customers across the Eastern and Western United States. This position requires travel for approximately 45β65% of working time to support customer demonstrations, instrument installations, training, and marketing events.
Key Responsibilities
Field Applications and Customer Support β Approximately 80%
- Conduct pre- and post-sales technical presentations and live instrument demonstrations at customer and DPBIO sites.
- Design and execute demonstrations tailored to customer applications, workflows, and evaluation criteria.
- Support instrument installations in coordination with the Service team and deliver comprehensive product and application training.
- Help customers develop and optimize workflows for antibody screening, single-cell analysis, enzyme evolution, and related applications.
- Provide timely technical support and structured troubleshooting via email, phone, remote sessions, and on-site visits.
- Independently investigate complex application issues and coordinate with internal specialists to resolve them.
- Gather customer feedback and communicate application needs and product requirements to internal teams.
- Develop and review technical materials, including user manuals, application notes, white papers, and presentations.
- Collaborate with Sales, Service, and Marketing to ensure a consistent customer experience.
Sales and Commercial Support β Approximately 20%
- Identify customer needs and connect scientific requirements with appropriate DPBIO solutions.
- Qualify opportunities and conduct consultative sales discussions, independently or alongside the Sales team.
- Follow up on demonstrations, address technical and commercial questions, and help move opportunities toward purchase.
- Contribute to proposals, quotations, and account development in collaboration with the Sales team.
- Identify opportunities for additional applications, product adoption, and account expansion among existing customers.
- Maintain accurate records of customer interactions, demonstration outcomes, and next steps.
- Represent DPBIO at conferences, exhibitions, and marketing events to generate interest and build customer relationships.
Qualifications
- M.S. or Ph.D. in a life sciences discipline.
- Demonstrated experience in field applications, technical sales, or a comparable customer-facing scientific role.
- Proven ability to independently manage customer engagements, lead technical demonstrations and training, and resolve complex application issues.
- Extensive hands-on experience with antibody screening techniques, such as flow cytometry, high-throughput monoclonal antibody screening, and ELISA.
- Strong knowledge of immunology, cell-based assays, microscopy platforms, and modern cell and molecular biology techniques.
- Experience working with advanced laboratory instruments, optimizing experimental workflows, and interpreting results.
- Ability to translate complex scientific concepts into clear customer benefits and support consultative sales discussions.
- Excellent verbal and written communication, documentation, and presentation skills.

Position Requirements
- Based in Boston, MA; San Francisco, CA; the United Kingdom; or Europe, with the ability to work remotely and visit customer or company sites as required.
- Willingness and ability to travel for approximately 45β65% of working time.
- Ability to safely handle and move laboratory equipment weighing 50+ lbs (approximately 23+ kg), using appropriate assistance or handling equipment as needed.
- Ability to perform laboratory demonstrations and training that may involve standing, walking, or sitting for extended periods.
- Ability to perform routine laboratory and computer tasks, including pipetting, typing, and operating instrumentation.
