We are looking for an experienced DevOps Engineer / Artifact Repository Migration Consultant to support an international enterprise in migrating its existing software artifact repository to a modern, managed solution.

The consultant will take ownership of the technical implementation, from requirements analysis and solution evaluation through migration, CI/CD integration, and decommissioning of the existing infrastructure.

- Working Hours: Central European business hours

Tasks

- Analyze the existing Sonatype Nexus repository environment, including repositories, artifact formats, dependencies, and usage patterns.

- Assess migration requirements and identify artifacts to be migrated, regenerated, or retired.

- Define technical and security requirements for the future artifact repository solution.

- Evaluate managed/SaaS repository solutions, conduct proof-of-concept assessments, and recommend a suitable target architecture.

- Configure and implement the selected solution, including authentication, permissions, retention policies, and proxy/mirror functionality.

- Execute artifact migration and validate data integrity, checksums, and artifact accessibility.

- Reconfigure CI/CD pipelines and developer tooling, prepare technical documentation, and support the transition.

- Decommission the legacy repository environment and related cloud infrastructure.

Requirements

- Proven hands-on experience with artifact repository migrations, particularly Sonatype Nexus as the source system.

- Strong experience with managed/SaaS artifact repository solutions such as JFrog Artifactory, Azure Artifacts, GitHub Packages, or AWS CodeArtifact.

- Solid DevOps expertise and practical experience with CI/CD pipelines, particularly Jenkins and GitHub Actions.

- Hands-on experience configuring Maven, npm, and related package management tools.

- Strong AWS knowledge, including experience decommissioning AWS-hosted infrastructure.

- Experience evaluating technical solutions, conducting PoCs, and providing vendor-neutral architecture recommendations.

- Familiarity with enterprise authentication (Microsoft Entra ID / SSO), role-based access control, and artifact security/compliance controls is an advantage.

- Fluent English communication skills and availability during Central European business hours; German is a plus.
