Description
The Resource Management Director is responsible for leading the organization's global resource planning strategy and ensuring optimal allocation of talent across all operational functions. This role plays a critical part in balancing business demand, project requirements, workforce capacity, and organizational priorities to maximize utilization, operational efficiency, employee experience, and client delivery.
Working in close partnership with Operational Leaders across Clinical Trial Delivery, Data & Regulatory Sciences, and Scientific and Medical functions, and in collaboration with Finance and Human Resources, the Resource Management Director is responsible for developing workforce planning frameworks, forecasting methodologies, and resource allocation strategies to support sustainable growth and overall business objectives.
The Resource Management Director serves as a strategic advisor to the Global Head of Clinical Trial Delivery on workforce capacity, resource risks, and organizational readiness.
More specifically, the Resource Management Director must
Strategic Resource Planning
- Define and drive the global resource management strategy aligned with corporate objectives and growth priorities.
- Lead end-to-end resource planning frameworks supporting activities from proposal development through study close-out.
- Establish scalable workforce planning timeframes (short-, mid-, and long-term) to ensure capacity readiness.
- Translate business pipeline and strategic forecasts into forward-looking resource requirements.
- Identify potential resource constraints early and implement proactive mitigation plans.
- Partner with senior leadership to ensure resource strategies enable business expansion and delivery commitments.
Resource Allocation & Optimization
- Lead resource allocation across projects, functions, and geographies to ensure effective deployment.
- Balance business needs with employee engagement, development, and retention considerations.
- Drive consistency and best practices in resource assignment decisions.
- Optimize resource utilization through dynamic reallocation aligned with evolving priorities.
- Enable cross-functional and cross-regional resource flexibility to maximize efficiency.
- Incorporate financial rigor into resourcing decisions by considering cost drivers and margin dynamics, ensuring alignment with organizational priorities, cost efficiency, and profitability objectives.
Forecasting & Analytics
- Develop resource forecasting models and capacity planning tools.
- Develop, maintain, and monitor key workforce planning metrics and indicators to support effective resourcing decisions and optimize organizational performance.
- Provide executive-level reporting and recommendations to operational leadership.
- Analyze trends to improve workforce planning accuracy and operational efficiency.
- Support adoption of new tools and digital solutions that improve resource efficiency, resource oversight, and operational visibility (e.g., Power-BI and dashboards).
Workforce Planning & Talent Strategy
- Partner with Talent Acquisition to define hiring strategies aligned with projected demand.
- Identify capability gaps and evolving skill requirements to inform workforce planning.
- Support broader talent strategies, including succession planning and workforce development.
- Collaborate with HR and operational leaders to enhance workforce effectiveness.
Operational Leadership & Governance
- Establish and maintain governance processes for resource planning and allocation.
- Lead structured resource review meetings with operational leadership.
- Develop, standardize, and continuously improve resource management processes, systems, and tools.
- Ensure resourcing practices support delivery excellence and employee engagement.
Stakeholder Management
