About the Position We’re hiring a Research Fellow who will play an essential role in supporting the work of our growing social media and video teams. The Research Fellow will help us to maintain a constant flow of highly engaging, newsy social media content that informs and inspires our audience. They must have a strong background in conducting fact-checking and original research and care deeply about reporting news that impacts working people through social media and video journalism. Core Responsibilities - Conduct original research and reporting to be used in compelling and informative vertical videos and other social media content; - Monitor legislative hearings, press conferences, public forums, earnings calls and more, file records requests, and maintain tracking spreadsheets; - Identify emerging news and trending topics from both traditional news sources as well as social media; - Fact-check social media content such as video scripts and Instagram carousels; - Manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet expected deadlines; - Maintain high standard of work in a nimble, fast paced environment; - Perform other duties as assigned. Experience/Qualifications - Professional experience fact-checking and conducting research, preferably as part of a newsroom; - Passion for, and substantial knowledge of, national politics and economic justice issues; - Excellent written and verbal communication skills; - Proficiency in social media platforms including Twitter/X with a strong understanding of current trends; - Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with a social media team; - Highly organized, detail-oriented, and capable of following directions and meeting tight deadlines; - Available full-time hours and able to excel in a remote/work-from-home environment.
