Python Engineer
About the project:
Weβre looking for a hands-on, self-sufficientPython Engineer to join a long-term product collaboration with an established European investment company. The company has been successfully managing multi-billion euro assets for 30+ years and is now actively investing in AI-driven innovation.
You'll work closely with a highly professional internal team β analysts, portfolio managers, and risk experts β to bring modern, impactful solutions into their everyday operations. The engagement spans several parallel sub-projects, so you'll be able to switch context and contribute across different workstreams within the same collaboration.
Requirements
What You'll Be Working On:

AI-powered internal platform already in production.
- Decision-making automation workflows.

Work with financial data, reports, documents, and internal knowledge sources.

Handling business-critical tasks that directly affect daily operations.

End-to-end ownership: from architectural design to production deployment, including monitoring and production support.
Key Responsibilities:
-
Design and implement scalable backend APIs using Python and AWS Lambda.
-
Develop and manage OpenAPI specifications for all serverless APIs.
-
Build and maintain data models and schema migrations using PostgreSQL on AWS RDS.
-
Set up and maintain infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
-
Build and orchestrate workflows using AWS Step Functions.
-
Collaborate with DevOps to establish smooth CI/CD pipelines using GitLab CI/CD.
-
Use Amazon S3 for storing and serving assets and data.
-
Monitor production systems and provide ongoing production support.
-
Apply best practices in version control, testing, and security.
-
Participate in code reviews, architectural planning, and agile team ceremonies.
Requirements:

3+ years of hands-on experience with Python 3.
-
Experience building APIs using Flask or similar Python web frameworks.

Experience developing serverless applications using AWS Lambda.
-
Experience with AWS Step Functions for building and orchestrating workflows.

Familiarity with API Gateway and/or ALB for routing and service integration.
-
Solid understanding of PostgreSQL, with experience deploying to AWS RDS.

Knowledge of Terraform for infrastructure provisioning and management.
-
Familiarity with OpenAPI/Swagger for API contracts and documentation.

Experience with GitLab and Git workflows for version control and CI/CD pipelines.

Understanding of S3 use cases in web applications.

Comfortable working in agile environments and taking initiative to solve problems.
Nice to Have:

Experience with SFTP, SharePoint, or other enterprise integrations.

Experience integrating with PowerPoint, Excel, or working with Power Queries.

AI is used as part of the daily engineering routine β e.g., for troubleshooting and root-cause analysis β so hands-on experience with AI tools is a plus, and any background in AI integration is welcome, though not required.

Knowledge of monitoring and logging tools within AWS.
-
Previous experience in the fintech or asset management domain.

Awareness of security practices for serverless apps (IAM roles, API authorization, secret management).
Stages of Interview:
- Interview with a Recruiter (45 minutes).
- Internal technical interview (1,5 hour).
- Interview with the client (1 hour).
