Part-Time English Teacher (Tue/Wed/Fri Eves, 3 Days/Wk) – August Off! – POP English School, Komaki

EVERY LESSON IS ALREADY PLANNED FOR YOU.
Most part-time teaching jobs quietly expect you to prepare on your
own time. Here, you won't. We have a complete year-round curriculum
- weekly lesson plans for every class, with key phrases, flashcards,
timings and homework already prepared. You arrive, you teach, you go
home. Your preparation time is not free labour.
Lesson plans are sent as A4 documents, not phone photos - printed
on paper or as a PDF, whichever you prefer. You will actually be
able to read them.

ABOUT THE SCHOOL
POP English School is a small school in Komaki, Aichi. Classes are 3
to 8 students, from kindergarten to high school.
We are speaking-focused, and we have a real method for it - students
build one sentence up layer by layer (pronoun, then time, then
place, then adverb, then negative), so they are producing their own
English from the first lesson instead of repeating after you.
Because we are small, you teach the same children for years. You can
meet a five-year-old and, if you stay with us, watch them grow into
a junior high school student who can hold a conversation. That does
not happen at a large chain school.

IS THIS RIGHT FOR YOU?
This is about 12 hours a week - roughly 110,000 yen a month at three
days. We want to be honest: this is not a full-time income. It suits
someone already settled in this area who wants steady, well-organised
part-time work alongside something else. If you need full-time hours,
this is not the right position, and we would rather say so now than
have you leave in three months.

DAYS AND HOURS - 1 to 3 days a week, negotiable
Tuesday 16:45 - 20:45
Wednesday 16:00 - 20:00
Friday 16:00 - 20:00
Three lessons a day. Please arrive 30 minutes before the first one.
No split shifts. No travelling between branches. Same room, same
students, every week.
We do not run regular lessons for most of August, apart from the
2-3 summer school mornings described under PAY.

GETTING HERE
A 5-minute walk from Manai Station on the Meitetsu Komaki Line.
There is free parking, so coming by car or bicycle works too.

PAY
Daily fee 11,000 yen (three lessons, including set-up
and tidying)
Per lesson approx. 3,667 yen for added or reduced lessons
Wednesday 500 yen tidying allowance
Meetings/training 1,500 yen per hour
Seasonal events 10,000 yen per event + travel
(a few Saturdays a year)
Summer school 10,000 yen per day + travel
(2-3 mornings in late August)
Report cards paid separately (twice a year)
Travel actual commuting cost, up to 1,500 yen per day
Annual raise +500 yen per day each year, up to 12,000 yen
Free parking. Car or bicycle commute welcome.
Paid monthly on the 10th, by bank transfer.
There are about 40 teaching weeks in a year. You can choose to be
paid only for the months you actually work, or to have the annual
total spread evenly across all 12 months for steady income. If the
contract ends partway through the year, the difference is settled
in the final payment.
The first month is a review period for both sides, on the same
terms.

WHAT WE PROVIDE
- The full curriculum and all materials
- A Japanese assistant in the kindergarten and elementary classes,
so you can teach in English and focus on the children. In
practice the assistant handles bathroom breaks, classroom
management, translation when it is needed, and gently
encouraging the shy ones to join in. Junior high and advanced
classes are taught solo, without an assistant.
- Training in our method when you start
- A direct working relationship with the owner. No head office,
no layers.
- Note: our curriculum and materials are the school's own work,
built up over several years. They are yours to use freely while
you teach with us, and they stay with us when you go.

WHAT WE ASK
- A valid residence card with permission to work in Japan. We
cannot sponsor a visa for this position.
