Dreem Health is America’s leading digital sleep clinic. Powered by Sunrise’s technology, Dreem Health makes sleep care simple — replacing long waits and in-lab sleep studies with home-based testing, expert telehealth visits, and personalized treatment plans that are easy for patients to follow. We’re fixing the broken sleep care journey and helping more people get the care they need — from home, on their schedule.

Your Opportunity

Behind every clean claim and resolved denial is a patient who can focus on getting better sleep instead of worrying about their bill. We're looking for a Medical Billing Team Lead to guide our remote team of Billing Associates within Revenue Cycle Management, someone who brings clarity to complex billing work and helps their team do their best work every day.

You'll own the day-to-day of billing operations: accuracy, timeliness, and compliance across claims, collections, and denial management while mentoring a team that counts on you for guidance and support. This is a role for someone who leads with trust, keeps things simple even when the work isn't, and takes real ownership of outcomes. You'll report directly to the Director of Revenue Cycle.
What You’ll Do

- Team Supervision & Development

- Directly supervise and support a team of Billing Associates, providing day-to-day guidance, workload distribution, and escalation support.

- Onboard and train new billing staff on coding, claims, payer-specific rules, and internal workflows.

- Conduct regular quality audits of team members' work, providing feedback and coaching to improve accuracy and clean claim rates.

- Monitor individual and team performance against productivity and quality benchmarks; address performance issues proactively.

- Billing Operations Oversight

- Oversee the team's claims submission, coding accuracy, and adherence to payer-specific requirements.

- Serve as the first point of escalation for complex claims, denials, and payer disputes the team cannot resolve independently.

- Monitor AR aging, denial trends, and collections performance across the team; identify and address recurring issues.

- Ensure timely, accurate account maintenance, and denial follow-up across the team's accounts.

- Process & Compliance

- Develop and maintain documented billing workflows and best practices for the team.

- Stay current on coding updates, payer policy changes, and industry regulations; ensure the team is trained on relevant changes.

- Support internal and external audits; implement corrective actions as needed.

- Ensure the team adheres to HIPAA requirements and internal compliance protocols; escalate complex or sensitive issues to the Director as appropriate.

- Reporting & Collaboration

- Provide regular performance and productivity reporting to the Director of Revenue Cycle.

- Collaborate with Payment Analysis, Charge Entry/Coding, and Credentialing functions to resolve cross-functional issues.

- Serve as the billing team's point of contact with Care Coordinators on patient financial counseling matters such as benefits counseling, statements, balance inquiries, and payment plans while ensuring account and balance data in Apero stays accurate and current for those conversations.

- Recommend process improvements and staffing adjustments based on team performance and volume trends.

- Complete additional tasks as assigned.

What You Bring

- 5+ years of experience in medical billing, including at least 2 years in a supervisory or management capacity.

- Strong understanding of medical coding standards (ICD-10, CPT, HCPCS), billing workflows, denial management, and insurance claim processes.

- Experience working with private medical practices or outpatient clinics preferred.

- Experience in Sleep Medicine and/or DME billing strongly preferred.

- Experience with Apero or similar practice management/billing software preferred.

- Professional coding or billing certification (CPC, CCS,
