As a Mechanical & CAD Engineer, you will apply your engineering expertise to support an innovative research project focused on advancing artificial intelligence. You will work on real-world mechanical design and CAD workflows, helping evaluate and improve the capabilities of cutting-edge AI models. Through hands-on 3D modeling, technical drafting, and engineering problem-solving, you will contribute high-quality training data that helps AI systems better understand complex engineering tasks. This fully remote, part-time opportunity offers the flexibility to work on your own schedule while collaborating on projects at the intersection of engineering and AI research. You can contribute approximately 10–20 hours per week, with clearly defined tasks and a structured workflow. Accountabilities

Mechanical Design & CAD Modeling: Complete practical mechanical engineering and CAD tasks using Mac-compatible design software, applying established engineering principles and design practices.

3D Modeling & Technical Drafting: Create, review, and refine 3D models, engineering drawings, and other technical design outputs with attention to accuracy and detail.

AI Research Support: Contribute to research initiatives by completing real-world engineering workflows that help benchmark, evaluate, and improve advanced AI models.

Technical Reasoning & Documentation: Clearly explain engineering decisions, design approaches, modeling methods, and problem-solving processes while completing assigned tasks.

Training Data Development: Produce high-quality, structured examples of mechanical design and CAD work to support the training and evaluation of AI systems.

Engineering Quality & Best Practices: Apply relevant engineering standards and design principles, including geometric dimensioning and tolerancing (GD&T) where applicable, to ensure technically sound outputs.

Independent Project Execution: Manage assigned tasks independently, maintain clear documentation, and deliver work within agreed timelines while working remotely.

Requirements:

Education & Professional Experience: A degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline, with either 2–3 years of relevant professional experience and a bachelor's degree or current/recent enrollment in postgraduate engineering studies. Mandatory Mac Ownership: You must own a MacBook or Mac computer equipped with either an Apple M-series chip or an Intel processor and running macOS 15 or later. Applicants without a compatible Mac cannot be considered.

CAD & 3D Modeling Skills: Hands-on experience with 3D modeling, mechanical design, and technical drafting, with proficiency in at least one Mac-compatible CAD tool, such as Fusion 360, Onshape, Shapr3D, or FreeCAD.
