JOB OVERVIEW

About Cove Health

Cove Health is a health technology company pioneering a new category: Healthcare Advocacy as a Service.

When an insurance plan denies a medication, stalls a prior authorization, or issues a “not medically necessary” decision, patients are often left to navigate a complicated healthcare system on their own. Cove Health changes that.

We pair patients with a licensed physician, supported by our proprietary AI software, who reviews the case and drafts a rigorous, guideline-cited advocacy letter on the patient’s behalf.

We are not a law firm. We are building the resource that should have existed years ago: someone in the patient’s corner who understands how to speak the system’s language.

The Role

We are looking for a Marketing Lead to help build Cove Health’s marketing function from the ground up.

Right now, many of the people who need Cove Health do not know that a service like ours exists. They are searching online for answers after receiving a denied claim, struggling with a prior authorization, or trying to understand how to appeal an insurance decision.

Your job is to help make sure they find Cove Health — and trust us when they do.

This is a hands-on role for someone who can think strategically and execute independently. You will help shape how Cove Health shows up across search, content, social media, public relations, partnerships, community engagement, and lifecycle marketing.

You should be comfortable moving between strategy and execution. We are not looking for someone whose primary experience is managing agencies or delegating marketing work. We want someone who can develop the plan and do the work required to execute it.

Because healthcare and insurance are sensitive and regulated areas, strong judgment is essential. We want marketing that gets attention without making promises we cannot substantiate.

What You Will Own

Public Relations & Earned Media

Build and execute Cove Health’s media strategy from the ground up, including press lists, pitch angles, media kits, and spokesperson positioning.

Identify opportunities for coverage across healthcare, technology, consumer finance, policy, podcasts, newsletters, and other channels that reach patients and caregivers.

Help position Cove Health as a trusted source of commentary on prior authorization, insurance claim denials, and AI-supported patient advocacy.

Handle inbound media opportunities, prepare spokespeople, and help manage communications around sensitive topics.

Brand & Positioning

Help translate “Healthcare Advocacy as a Service” into language that patients can immediately understand.

Own and continuously improve Cove Health’s voice, messaging architecture, and brand consistency across the website, email , social media, content, and other patient-facing channels.

Ensure our marketing consistently reinforces the trust signals that matter: physician-led, guideline-cited, transparent, and careful about what we can and cannot promise.

Content & SEO

Own organic search strategy around high-intent topics such as:

Denied insurance claims

Prior authorization appeals

Step-therapy overrides

Formulary exceptions

Independent medical review

Medication and treatment denials

Develop useful, plain-English content that helps patients understand their options while improving Cove Health’s organic visibility.

Manage the editorial process from beginning to end, including research, content briefs, drafting, physician review, publishing, optimization, and content refreshes.

Social Media & Community

Build Cove Health’s presence where patients and caregivers actually spend time, including patient advocacy communities, condition-specific communities, Reddit, TikTok, Instagram, LinkedIn, and X.

Our approach should be helpful and credible rather than overly promotional.

Develop a repeatable content engine that may include short-form video, educational posts, explainers, patient-focused resources, and anonymized case outcomes.

Partnerships & Lifecycle Marketing

Develop relationships with patient advocacy organizations, disease foundations, chronic-illness creators, benefits consultants, independent healthcare providers, and other relevant partners.

Help build lifecycle email campaigns and referral systems that turn patients into repeat users, members, and advocates for Cove Health.

Create and optimize landing pages, tracking systems, and reporting so we can understand which channels and campaigns are producing meaningful results.

Measurement & Optimization

Define and track the metrics that matter, including qualified traffic, signup rate, cost per acquired case, membership conversion, share of voice, media placements, and channel performance.

Establish a disciplined test-and-learn process.

We are operating with a startup mindset. We expect you to test ideas, measure results, double down on what works, and stop spending time on what does not.

Your First 90 Days

Days 1–30: Audit our website, funnel, messaging, search landscape, and existing marketing efforts. Learn the Cove Health product, speak with leadership and physicians, and develop a prioritized messaging and channel strategy.

Days 31–60: Begin shipping. Establish the SEO content engine, activate and strengthen social channels, build the press list and media kit, and begin outreach.

Days 61–90: Begin generating measurable traction through earned media, organic search, social/community engagement, partnerships, and other acquisition channels. Identify the channels showing the strongest potential for repeatable case volume.

What We Are Looking For

We are looking for someone with:

5+ years of experience in marketing, communications, public relations, growth, content, or a related field.

Hands-on experience working in an early-stage, startup, or resource-constrained environment.

Demonstrated earned-media experience, including placements you personally helped secure.

Excellent English writing and communication skills.

Strong copywriting ability across pitches, landing pages, articles, guides, scripts, email s, and social content.

Working knowledge of SEO fundamentals and content strategy.

Experience growing organic traffic through content or search.

Comfort working with analytics, attribution, GA4 or similar tools, and imperfect data.

Strong research skills and attention to detail.

Excellent judgment when communicating about healthcare, insurance, or other sensitive subjects.

The ability to work independently in a remote environment with limited supervision.

A strong bias toward execution. You do not just recommend what should be done — you can actually do it.

Nice to Have

Experience in any of the following is especially valuable:

Healthcare

Health insurance

Digital health or health technology

Patient advocacy

Chronic-illness communities

Health policy

Other regulated consumer industries

Short-form video production

Public relations and journalist outreach

Marketing a new category or unfamiliar service

Building a marketing function from an early stage

Existing relationships with healthcare, technology, consumer, or policy reporters are also a plus.

How We Work

Cove Health is a fully remote company.

We operate synchronously by default, with regular working sessions and direct access to leadership.

This is an execution-focused environment. If you propose something that makes sense, we expect to move quickly and ship it.

Every claim we make publicly must be grounded in what Cove Health can actually substantiate. Marketing works alongside our physicians and operations team, not around them.

How to Apply

Please include the following with your application:

1. A short response to this question:

If someone had a medication denied by their insurance company last week, how would you get Cove Health in front of them?

We are not looking for a comprehensive marketing plan. We want to understand how you think. Specific beats comprehensive.

2. Your resume or LinkedIn profile.

3. Two or three relevant work samples.

Ideally, show us something you personally worked on, such as:

A media placement you secured

A page or article that ranked in search

A campaign you managed from strategy through execution

A social or content program that produced measurable growth

For each example, briefly tell us what you personally did and what result it produced.

Please do not submit a generic cover letter. We would rather read one sharp, thoughtful paragraph than a templated application.
