Supervised by: IT Operations Manager

POSITION SUMMARY. MediQuant helps more than 250 health systems and hospital networks retire, secure, and modernize their legacy healthcare data. As Infrastructure & Database Team Lead, you’ll own the infrastructure, systems, and standards that make it possible.
The Infrastructure & Database Team Lead owns the availability, reliability, security, and performance of MediQuant infrastructure, cloud, and database environments — both the systems that run MediQuant business and the platforms that power services for its healthcare clients. This role leads a combined technical team, sets standards across both domains, and partners closely with the IT Operations Manager on roadmap, budget, and compliance priorities.

- Infrastructure, Cloud & Database Operations
- Owns day-to-day operations, performance monitoring, and configuration of MediQuant ’s infrastructure, cloud, and database environments — both internal and client-facing.
- Owns the Business Continuity and Disaster Recovery (BCDR) process, documentation, and testing across infrastructure and database systems.
- Leads incident, problem, and change management for escalated infrastructure and database issues through to resolution; documents root cause and resolution in knowledge base articles.
- Develops and maintains the infrastructure and database services roadmap in partnership with the IT Operations Manager.
- Monitors service levels and communicates proactively with internal stakeholders and clients on status, risk, and incidents, operating within the SLAs/OLAs negotiated by the IT Operations Manager.
- Ensures the team maintains on-call/escalation coverage, escalating unresolved gaps to the IT Operations Manager.
- Compliance & Data Security
- Owns execution of HIPAA and HITRUST CSF compliance controls for infrastructure and database systems, including evidence collection supporting MediQuant ’s HITRUST r2 certification. The IT Operations Manager holds operational compliance accountability; the Information Security Manager holds final compliance program ownership and audit sign-off.
- Ensures data integrity, access controls, and secure handling of Confidential Data and PHI across all systems under this role’s oversight.
- Partners with Security/Compliance leadership on audit readiness, risk assessments, and remediation tracking.
- Project & Portfolio Governance
- Scopes, sequences, and manages a portfolio of infrastructure and database projects: resourcing, milestone tracking, cost/benefit analysis, and risk management.
- Assembles project teams, assigns responsibilities, and coordinates with the PMO/project management function on schedule and dependencies.
- Independently verifies the actual state of systems, projects, and initiatives owned by this role, rather than relying solely on team- or vendor-reported status.
- Proactively escalates risk, slippage, or emerging issues to the IT Operations Manager in advance of impact, with a recommended course of action.
- Prepare status reports for upper management.
- Vendor & Budget Management
- Leads technical evaluation of infrastructure and database vendors and tooling (e.g., cloud provider technical support, database platform vendors) and recommends vendor selection and RFP/NDA/MSA terms on the technical side; the IT Operations Manager approves contractor and tooling spend within budget.
- Provides budget input (actual-vs-planned technology spend for infrastructure and database systems) to the IT Operations Manager, who consolidates it into budget requests to the Director, IT.
