Job Title: Healthcare Billing Specialist
Position Type: Part-Time
Working Hours: 11:00 AM - 3:00 PM Central Daylight Time, Monday - Friday
Salary rate: $5-$6
Job Responsibilities:
- Manage accounts receivable and follow up on outstanding insurance claims.
- Track Explanation of Benefits (EOBs), claim statuses, payments, denials, and unresolved balances.
- Accurately enter, review, and update claim information in SimplePractice.
- Follow up with insurance carriers, including Cigna, UnitedHealthcare, Aetna, Blue Cross Blue Shield, and the Veterans Community Care Network.
- Identify delayed, denied, underpaid, or unresolved claims and escalate issues as needed.
- Maintain accurate documentation of claim follow-ups, payer responses, and required next steps.
- Communicate regularly with the external billing team regarding claim submissions, payment delays, and billing concerns.
- Troubleshoot claim issues and ensure appropriate follow-up actions are completed.
- Monitor delayed claim submissions and unresolved billing concerns.
- Provide proactive status updates to the client and relevant team members.
Requirements
- Has 1 year of prior experience with U.S. healthcare billing, accounts receivable, and insurance claim follow-up.
- Hands-on experience using SimplePractice is required.
- Strong knowledge of EOBs, claim statuses, denials, payments, and payer follow-up processes.
- Experience communicating with major commercial insurance carriers.
- Excellent attention to detail when entering claim information and monitoring payment statuses.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills.
- Consistent attendance, reliable follow-through, and the ability to meet deadlines.
- Proactive in providing updates and escalating delayed, denied, or unresolved claims.
- Able to work independently and manage multiple priorities with minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of HIPAA regulations and secure handling of protected health information.
- Comfortable managing a high-priority AR backlog that affects the practice’s cash flow.
- Available during the agreed Central Time working hours and billing-team coordination windows.
- Medical scribing experience is an advantage but not required.
Basic Requirements
- Must speak and write English clearly and professionally.
- Must have relevant work experience.
- Must be able to provide an NBI Clearance and/or Local Police Clearance before onboarding (mandatory).
- Must be available to attend video meetings with camera on when required.
