About the Role
At Pavago , one of our clients — a YC-backed (W25) technology company — is hiring a Financial Modeling Specialist to build, review, and improve sophisticated financial and business models used within structured AI training workflows.
This is a highly analytical, execution-focused role for finance professionals with strong backgrounds in financial modeling, FP&A, investment banking, private equity, strategic finance, corporate finance, or financial consulting .
You’ll build complete financial and operating models, develop forecasting and KPI frameworks, review models for accuracy and structural integrity, and help establish scalable modeling standards.
This role is ideal for someone who can take broad financial requirements, structure them independently, and produce clean, accurate, scalable, and well-documented financial models .
What You’ll Own
Financial Modeling & Analysis
Build sophisticated, end-to-end financial models, including:
- Three-statement financial models
- Operating models
- Forecasting models
- KPI frameworks
- Scenario and sensitivity analyses
- Revenue and cost models
- Cash flow models
- Business performance models
You’ll:
- Translate broad requirements into structured modeling approaches.
- Develop clear assumptions and financial drivers.
- Build scalable formulas and model architecture.
- Ensure consistency between income statement, balance sheet, and cash flow assumptions.
- Structure outputs so models are easy to understand, audit, and modify.
- Apply strong accounting and financial analysis principles throughout the modeling process.
Forecasting & Financial Analysis
Develop and refine forecasts using operational and financial assumptions.
Responsibilities may include:
- Revenue forecasting
- Expense forecasting
- Cash flow planning
- KPI development
- Scenario modeling
- Variance analysis
- Operating performance analysis
Ensure forecasts appropriately reflect underlying business drivers and accounting relationships.
Model Review & Quality Control
Review financial models created by other analysts and identify issues related to:
- Model structure
- Formula accuracy
- Accounting logic
- Forecasting assumptions
- Cash flow alignment
- Revenue recognition
- Model consistency
- Documentation
You’ll:
- Audit formulas and calculations.
- Identify structural or logical weaknesses.
- Correct inconsistencies and modeling errors.
- Challenge assumptions where appropriate.
- Improve readability and scalability.
- Ensure models can be reviewed efficiently by other finance professionals.
U.S. GAAP & Accounting Integration
Apply strong accounting knowledge when developing and reviewing models.
You should understand:
- U.S. GAAP
- Revenue recognition
- Accrual vs. cash accounting
- Working capital
- Financial statement relationships
- Cash flow mechanics
- Forecasting and variance analysis
Ensure modeling outputs remain financially coherent and appropriately reflect accounting relationships.
Modeling Frameworks & Documentation
Help establish scalable financial modeling infrastructure.
You’ll:
- Improve existing modeling templates.
- Standardize model structures.
- Develop repeatable frameworks.
- Document assumptions and methodologies.
- Maintain clear modeling conventions.
- Improve financial modeling best practices.
- Create documentation that allows other analysts to understand and reproduce modeling logic.
AI Training & Structured Finance Workflows
Your financial expertise will contribute to structured workflows used to support advanced AI systems.
You’ll apply finance judgment to:
- Complex financial modeling tasks.
- Structured analytical problems.
- Model evaluation and quality control.
