This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for an Engineering Manager II, SDET based in India.

This is a senior engineering leadership opportunity focused on scaling software quality, test automation, and engineering excellence.
You’ll lead and develop a high-performing SDET organization responsible for automation, performance, and reliability.
The role combines strategic ownership with hands-on technical leadership across web, mobile, API, and cloud-native environments.
You’ll shape automation frameworks, strengthen CI/CD quality practices, and champion shift-left testing across the software development lifecycle.
You’ll also explore GenAI and AI-agent capabilities to improve testing productivity, coverage, and intelligent analysis.
Working closely with engineering and release teams, you’ll help deliver reliable software at significant scale and speed.

Accountabilities

Lead, mentor, and develop a large team of SDETs focused on automation, performance, reliability, and engineering quality.

Define and execute an end-to-end test automation strategy spanning web, mobile, and API layers.

Champion shift-left testing practices and integrate automated quality validation throughout CI/CD pipelines and the software development lifecycle.

Partner closely with engineering managers and technical leads to improve release quality, test coverage, delivery speed, and overall engineering effectiveness.

Establish and maintain standards for automation quality, performance, maintainability, and test code practices.

-

Build and optimize scalable automation frameworks using TypeScript and Playwright.

Oversee release readiness, test planning, quality gates, and validation activities for major product launches.

Drive the adoption of GenAI and AI-powered tools for intelligent test generation, analysis, productivity, and quality engineering workflows.

Ensure appropriate coverage across functional, non-functional, performance, and security testing.

Provide architectural guidance on testing strategy, automation tooling, frameworks, infrastructure, and engineering practices.

Develop testing infrastructure and pipelines capable of supporting microservices and cloud-native applications.

Foster a culture of continuous improvement, technical innovation, accountability, and quality-first engineering.

Support the technical and career growth of engineers through mentoring, coaching, and knowledge sharing.

Requirements

-

9+ years of overall experience in Quality Engineering, Software Testing, or a closely related engineering discipline.

-

Proven experience managing, mentoring, and scaling a large SDET or quality engineering team.

-

Strong hands-on experience as a Test Automation Architect or in a comparable technical leadership role.

-

Advanced experience with TypeScript and Playwright, ideally including the design and implementation of scalable automation frameworks.

Strong understanding of test automation architecture, design patterns, CI/CD pipelines, cloud environments such as AWS or GCP, and modern software development workflows.

-

Hands-on expertise in API testing, performance testing, and mobile test automation, including tools such as JMeter, k6, Gatling, Appium, or equivalent technologies.

Strong understanding of shift-left testing and the ability to embed quality validation early in the software development lifecycle.

-

Demonstrated success establishing scalable automation frameworks and increasing automated test coverage.

-

Experience designing testing infrastructure and pipelines for microservices and cloud-native applications.

Proven ability to scale engineering teams, processes, and quality practices within fast-paced product organizations.

Strong leadership, communication, mentoring, and stakeholder-management skills.

Passion for developing engineers, encouraging technical growth, and building a culture of continuous learning.

Strong interest in applying GenAI and AI agents to improve testing productivity, efficiency, coverage, and intelligence.
