Jolease Publishing is seeking a talented, creative, and detail-oriented Editorial Art Director / Magazine Designer for The Royal Edit, a premium quarterly women's lifestyle, leadership, and business magazine.

Our publication celebrates extraordinary women, shares their journeys, and promotes women-owned businesses through beautiful editorial storytelling and sophisticated advertising.

We are looking for someone who can create the elegance of a luxury magazine while maintaining the professionalism of an executive business publication.

Digital and Print Magazine Production

The Royal Edit is a digital-first quarterly luxury magazine that must also be suitable for professional printing.

The selected designer will be responsible for producing:

A professionally designed 32–40-page magazine.

A high-quality digital PDF optimized for online reading, sharing, and downloading.

Clickable links to featured businesses, websites, and social media profiles in the digital edition.

A separate high-resolution, print-ready PDF with appropriate bleed, color settings, and printer specifications.

Editable Adobe InDesign source files and reusable templates for future quarterly editions.

The magazine must maintain its sophisticated editorial appearance in both digital and printed formats.

The Opportunity

You will lead the visual design and production of a 32–40-page magazine published quarterly in both print and digital formats.

This is an ongoing freelance opportunity, beginning with our Holiday Edition 2026.

Responsibilities

Develop luxury editorial layouts and visual concepts

Design magazine covers, feature stories, profiles, and advertising pages

Establish consistent typography, page grids, and design templates

Work with supplied articles, photography, and brand assets

Prepare commercial print-ready and digital files

Maintain a cohesive look across quarterly issues

Collaborate directly with the publisher

Qualifications

Proven experience designing complete magazines

Advanced Adobe InDesign skills

Strong typography, editorial composition, and print-production knowledge

Ability to produce elegant, modern, visually sophisticated layouts

Reliable communication and deadline management

Experience with women's lifestyle or business publications is a plus

Project Budget

Initial issue: $600–$850 USD

Future quarterly issues: Negotiable recurring fixed fee
