The Principal Engineer, Infrastructure and Operations is an integral driver of the Healthfirst cloud and operational excellence strategy. This role manages enterprise solutions in both public and private clouds while also utilizing tools to automate system deployment and configuration management tasks. The Principal Engineer is a Subject Matter Expert (SME), senior technical leader, and key decision maker for Engineers and Sr. Engineers who works collaboratively and/or autonomously in creating solutions. The Principal Engineer, I&O works with diverse technologies utilizing orchestration tools and automation to eliminate manual operations and create reliable and repeatable service delivery. The role is responsible for establishing standards of usage across our public and private cloud footprint. The Principal Engineer, I&O works with and mentors’ other engineers to identify efficiency opportunities, eliminate waste, and improve the resiliency of our infrastructure platforms, while working with application development teams to support continuous delivery of new capabilities.
Duties & Responsibilities :

- Works vertically and horizontally across the Infrastructure and Operations portfolio supporting private/public cloud systems, operating systems, middleware, storage, database platforms, and other key infrastructure products.

- Assists department leadership by providing informal coaching and direction to I&O Engineering team

- Support the Buildout of CI/CD pipelines for Healthfirst applications.

- Assist in Onboarding of CI/CD Pipelines to the development teams.

- Document and design various processes around DevOps; update existing processes.

- Subject matter expert for advanced analysis and resolution of the most complex issues

- Develops repeatable automation to deliver capabilities more efficiently.

- Devises solutions to problems impacting mission critical systems and implements automation to prevent reoccurrence.

- Supports and implements private cloud Hybrid Cloud Infrastructure (HCI) technologies.

- Plays a senior role within a Center of Excellence for cloud usage and cloud development standards.

- Maintains an accurate picture of existing server, storage, networking, software and hardware and virtual environments to support scaling against various project requirements.

- Ensures all usage of cloud environments meet governance standards and contributes to improving standards for security and operational efficiency.

- Creates Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for Healthfirst operations teams to support the operations of the products.

- Acts as a senior escalation point for operations and delivery teams for incident and ticket resolution and participates in an on-call rotation.

- Serves as a technical leader within Infrastructure & Operations as well as with Development teams in areas of Cloud technology and automation.

Minimum Qualifications:

- A high school diploma or a GED from an accredited institution

- Experience in designing, building, and managing Linux/Unix-based and Windows systems.

- Extensive cloud experience within Amazon Web Services (AWS), Azure, Google Cloud Platform (GCP), etc.

- I&O Engineering work experience including oversight of public and private cloud technologies

- Proven and demonstratable experience with automation scripting tools including BASH, Python and/or PowerShell.

- Extensive Infrastructure as Code (IaC) experience with automation and open-source tools.

- Proven work experience in identifying repeatable processes and partnering with teams to push innovation and automation.

Preferred Qualifications:

- Technical degree from an accredited institution or work experience equivalent.

- AWS Certified Solutions Architect

- GCP/Nutanix Certification.

- Experience in a Cloud Center of Excellence and driving business innovation.
