As a Data Engineer / Data Modeler, you will play a pivotal role in designing and maintaining robust data architectures that enable large-scale analytics and support mission-critical government programs. You will collaborate closely with technical teams, security experts, and stakeholders to ensure data solutions are secure, scalable, and compliant with federal standards.
Key responsibilities include:

- Designing and maintaining scalable database architectures for analytical workloads, ensuring optimal performance through indexing, partitioning, caching, and query tuning.

- Developing, automating, and maintaining data ingestion, transformation, validation, and loading pipelines to support high-quality data flows.

- Building reusable data connection modules and backend infrastructure components to streamline data operations and support future scalability.

- Supporting data preprocessing, normalization, and rigorous data quality validation processes.

- Contributing to cloud migration planning, governance, and evaluation of cloud solutions for security, compliance, interoperability, and performance.

- Producing comprehensive data models, architecture diagrams, flowcharts, and technical documentation for internal and external stakeholders.

- Utilizing PowerShell scripting and automation to enhance data engineering workflows and system integration.

- Collaborating with technical, security, and stakeholder teams throughout the project lifecycle to deliver high-impact data solutions.

Requirements
Required Qualifications:

- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field

- 5+ years of experience in data engineering, database administration, or data architecture

- Proven experience designing and optimizing scalable database architectures for analytical workloads, including query performance tuning (indexing, partitioning, caching)

- Hands-on experience building and maintaining automated data ingestion, transformation, validation, and loading pipelines

- Strong SQL skills with PostgreSQL, SQL Server, Oracle, or similar relational databases

- Proficiency in Python or R for data transformation, automation, or pipeline development

- Experience with PowerShell scripting and automation

- Experience with cloud platforms (Azure or AWS) for cloud-hosted data solutions

- Knowledge of FedRAMP requirements and cloud security best practices

- Proficiency using Git with documented development practices

- Experience designing data models for analytics (e.g., dimensional star/snowflake and/or normalized relational models)

- Experience collaborating with government program stakeholders and security/privacy personnel, and presenting technical deliverables to diverse audiences

- Eligibility to obtain and maintain a Tier 4 (High-Risk) Public Trust and HSPD-12/PIV credentialing

- Ability to travel approximately 10% as needed

Preferred Qualifications:

- Hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory and at least two of the following: Azure SQL, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Functions

- Active Public Trust clearance
