The Creative Cue is a growing children's brand focused on creating fun, engaging, and educational products that inspire creativity, imagination, and learning.

We are expanding our collection of children's coloring books, activity books, tracing workbooks, and other educational materials for preschool and elementary-age children.

Our goal is to develop a recognizable brand known for high-quality, professionally designed books that parents love and children enjoy.

We are looking for a talented, creative, detail-oriented designer who can help us bring our ideas to life and manage the book production process from concept to completion.

Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced **Children's Activity Book Designer with Amazon KDP expertise** who can independently develop professional, engaging, and print-ready books.

Our initial goal is to develop a collection of 12+ unique children's books, with additional projects as our brand grows.

The ideal candidate understands children's educational content, illustration, workbook layouts, Amazon KDP requirements, and quality control.

This is not simply a Canva design position. We need someone who takes ownership of projects and delivers accurate, polished, publication-ready books.

Key Responsibilities

Book Creation & Design

- Design original children's coloring books, educational workbooks, tracing books, and activity books.

- Create engaging illustrations appropriate for specific age groups.

- Develop activities covering letters, numbers, shapes, colors, counting, matching, and early learning.

- Maintain consistent illustration styles, typography, page layouts, and branding.

- Create professional front and back covers.

- Develop unique book concepts while following our established creative direction.

Amazon KDP Formatting

- Prepare interiors for Amazon KDP paperback publishing.

- Create true high-resolution artwork, targeting 300 DPI or vector-quality output.

- Format books to specific trim sizes, including 8.5 × 11 inches.

- Understand bleed, no-bleed, safe margins, gutters, and spine calculations.

- Deliver properly formatted print-ready PDF files.

- Prepare complete paperback cover files using final book specifications.

- Review files for potential printing and formatting issues before submission.

Educational Content & Quality Control

- Ensure all activities are age-appropriate and educationally accurate.

- Verify correct spelling, alphabet sequencing, number placement, and tracing exercises.

- Check every page for missing elements, inconsistencies, or printing issues.

- Follow approved designs without making unauthorized changes.

- Perform a complete quality review before presenting a book for approval.

Project Management & Deliverables

- Manage several book projects efficiently.

- Organize design files, illustrations, and completed books.

- Communicate project progress and timelines.

- Provide editable source files and final PDF deliverables.

- Incorporate feedback accurately and promptly.

- Help establish templates and repeatable processes to streamline future book production.

Required Qualifications

- Proven experience creating children's coloring books, activity books, or educational workbooks.

- Demonstrated experience preparing paperback books for Amazon KDP.

- Strong skills in Canva, Adobe Illustrator, Affinity Designer, InDesign, or comparable design software.

- Understanding of vector illustrations, print resolution, and professional page formatting.

- Excellent attention to detail.

- Strong written English skills, particularly for educational instructions.

- Ability to maintain consistency across 50–100-page projects.

- Ability to work independently and meet agreed deadlines.

- Willingness to take ownership of projects from beginning to end.

Preferred Qualifications

- Experience designing preschool or homeschooling materials.

- Familiarity with early childhood learning concepts.

- Experience producing multiple books within a consistent brand identity.

- Ability to create product mockups and Amazon listing images.

- Experience preparing digital printable products for Shopify.

- Familiarity with AI-assisted illustration workflows and correcting generated artwork for professional publishing.
