Centering Healthcare Institute (CHI) is a 25-year-old 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to champion and advance the evidence-based Centering group model of care to transform how healthcare is practiced and experienced, empowering healthcare providers and patients to improve health outcomes. CHI partners with approximately 400+ provider organizations across the U.S. to implement and sustain its three Centering group models of care -CenteringPregnancy®, CenteringParenting ®, and CenteringHealthcare ®.

With expanding partnerships, rising public and policy attention to group prenatal care, and growing opportunities to shape systems of care, CHI is poised to amplify its national impact and redefine how communities experience health and belonging.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) will be a mission-driven and visionary leader who brings both strategic foresight and a deep commitment to CHI’s purpose. More than a steward of operations, the CEO will be a systems thinker and catalyst—someone who thrives in complexity, leads with courage and curiosity, and builds enduring partnerships rooted in trust and shared accountability.

CHI seeks a transformative governance leader who can inspire alignment across a distributed and diverse organization; cultivate relationships with funders, health systems, and policymakers; and guide CHI’s evolution into a more visible, connected, and resilient national platform for change. This leader will be ambitious yet grounded, collaborative yet decisive—balancing strategy with humanity and vision with execution.

The CEO will shape and advance CHI’s overall strategy and organizational structure, partnering closely with a high-performing executive leadership team. The CEO reports directly to the Board of Directors and serves as its key partner in governance, strategy, and sustainability.

Candidate Profile

The next CEO of CHI will be a strategic and values-rooted systems leader who brings both heart and vision to the role. Rather than solely executing plans, this leader will define the horizon, cultivate shared purpose, mobilize partners, and shape the future of equitable care through influence, insight, and innovation. The CEO will guide the organization through growth and systems change, anchoring CHI’s mission in measurable outcomes for families and communities.

The role oversees CHI’s strategic direction, organizational health, partnerships, financial sustainability, and influence across the healthcare landscape. Working closely with the Board of Directors and Executive Team, the CEO will ensure CHI’s programs, operations, and governance are aligned with a long-term vision for scale, systems impact, and sustainable excellence.

The CEO will steward CHI through its next phase of growth, optimizing infrastructure, ensuring operational alignment with mission and strategy, and empowering leaders across the organization to thrive. This includes championing continuous improvement and change management across systems, partnerships, and culture to position CHI as a model for equity centered healthcare innovation.
