What are we looking for?
We're looking for a Bookkeeper to serve as the financial backbone for the client's thriving, family-owned business portfolio. A highly efficient and proactive due to the fast-paced nature of the business, where errors can lead to significant financial consequences. This is a high-impact role managing the full-cycle bookkeeping for two different industries – retail and supermarket across seven locations.
In this role, you will be the primary point of contact for all financial data, ensuring that the constant flow of invoices and bank feeds is translated into organized, actionable records.
What are you expected to do?
Accounts Payable (AP) & Purchasing
- Manage Accounts Payable (AP) processes, including invoices, purchases, supplier payments, expenditures, and supplier statement reconciliations across multiple store locations.
- Maintain accurate financial records in accordance with company policies and accounting standards while ensuring all tasks are completed accurately and within deadlines.
- Optimize accounting workflows and processes to improve efficiency, reduce bottlenecks, and minimize errors without compromising quality.

Resolve discrepancies and follow up on issues promptly to maintain accurate and reliable financial data.
Payroll Preparation (Weekly)
- Prepare weekly payroll by auditing the Deputy system to verify timesheets, rosters, shifts, leave records, and approvals prior to final payment processing.
- Ensure payroll preparation tasks are completed accurately, on time, and in accordance with established procedures and timelines.
Reconciliations & AR
- Perform daily bank feed reconciliations and manage Accounts Receivable (AR) transactions to maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records.
- Monitor financial data, investigate discrepancies, and resolve issues promptly using strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ensure transparency and reliability in financial reporting through clear documentation and consistent adherence to reporting standards.
Compliance & Reporting
- Complete BAS preparation, GST reconciliations, and ensure all GST claims are accurately captured in compliance with accounting standards and company policies.
- Prepare financial reports, account analyses, and month-end reports, bringing financials to the final review stage for the director.
- Maintain the end-to-end bookkeeping cycle across multiple locations, ensuring records remain compliant, audit-ready, and accurate.
- Demonstrate accountability for meeting targets, maintaining data accuracy, and improving operational efficiency.

You'll be a great fit if:
- You have a minimum of 3 years of bookkeeping experience , positioning you as a senior, plug-and-play professional who can manage complex financial tasks independently from day one.

You have a degree in Accounting, Finance, Management Accounting, or a related field .
- You must possess direct experience in the Australian accounting environment , demonstrating a solid understanding of local compliance, GST requirements, and regional financial standards.
- You have an intermediate to advanced proficiency in accounting software Xero is a must (not just Xero certified), capable of managing multi-entity files and high-volume data with minimal guidance.
