Associate Software Tester (WFH)

QBits Tech builds software that helps businesses manage search, merchandising, content, and e-commerce operations. Our product, QBits, is a multi-tenant SaaS platform with catalog management, configurable business rules, search experiences, and preview and publishing workflows.

We are looking for a Quality Assurance Engineer who can understand complex product workflows, identify gaps, and build reliable manual and automated testing practices.

About the role

You will own testing across QBits's web application and APIs, working closely with product and engineering from requirements through release. You should be comfortable exploring features independently, questioning unclear requirements, and turning business scenarios into repeatable tests.

Key responsibilities

1. Review requirements, designs, and acceptance criteria to identify missing scenarios and potential risks before development.

2. Create and maintain test plans, test cases, test data, and regression suites.

3. Perform functional, exploratory, integration, regression, smoke, and end-to-end testing.

4. Validate responsive layouts, cross-browser behavior, accessibility basics, and consistent user experiences.

5. Test REST APIs, including authentication, authorization, validation, pagination, filtering, error handling, and data consistency.

6. Build and maintain automated UI and API tests using Playwright with TypeScript/JavaScript, or a comparable framework.

7. Test multi-tenant behavior, role-based permissions, and tenant data isolation.

8. Validate catalog, category, attribute, search, filtering, sorting, merchandising rules, and preview-to-publish workflows.

9. Test edge cases such as large datasets, bulk operations, concurrent updates, failed requests, retries, and partial failures.

10. Report defects with clear reproduction steps, expected and actual results, and supporting screenshots, logs, or network traces.

11. Integrate automated tests into CI/CD pipelines and investigate failures and flaky tests.

12. Communicate release readiness, remaining defects, test coverage, and quality risks clearly.

Required skills

1. 2-5 years of hands-on experience testing web applications and APIs.

2. Strong understanding of test design, defect management, and the software development lifecycle.

3. Practical experience with Playwright, Cypress, Selenium, or a similar automation framework.

4. Working knowledge of JavaScript or TypeScript for writing and debugging automated tests.

5. Experience with Postman or equivalent API testing tools.

6. Ability to use browser developer tools to investigate network requests, console errors, and UI issues.

7. Familiarity with SQL or MongoDB queries for backend data validation.

8. Working knowledge of Git and CI/CD workflows.

9. Strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and clear written communication.

10. Ability to work independently and prioritize testing based on business impact and risk.

- 6. Experience using AI-assisted tools to generate test scenarios, investigate failures, or improve automation, with human validation of results.
