YouTube Video Editor - Scary Stories & Mysteries

We’re looking for an experienced video editor to join our team for a new YouTube channel focused on mysteries, strange true stories, unexplained events, and darker/scarier subjects. MrBallen and What Lurks Beneath are good references for the general editing style, although we’ll be developing our own presentation. You’ll receive the completed script and recorded host footage. From there, you’ll be responsible for turning everything into a polished finished video. This includes editing the host footage, researching the subject, and finding relevant newspaper articles, television clips, interviews, archival footage, photographs, maps, B-roll, and other supporting material. You’ll also handle music, ambience, sound design, audio mixing, and simple graphics or visual effects when needed. We’re looking for someone who: Has strong professional video-editing experience Has experience with long-form YouTube content Is skilled at researching and finding relevant supporting material Has an excellent sense of pacing, atmosphere, and visual storytelling Is skilled with music, audio mixing, and sound design Can take creative initiative without needing instructions for every shot Can work efficiently while maintaining a high-quality standard Is reliable, communicates well, and wants consistent long-term work Videos will generally be 20–45 minutes long. Quality is extremely important, but so is efficiency and the ability to maintain a consistent production schedule. You may use whatever software and tools you prefer. We care about the quality of the finished video, not which programs you use.
