I am looking for an experienced WordPress developer with strong modern web design skills to help with several website projects. I currently have five websites that need work: 2 new websites built from scratch in WordPress 2 existing websites improved/redesigned and moved into WordPress 1 existing website that I need help learning how to manage After these projects, I would like to continue working with the right person as I gain clients who need websites created, updated, or managed. Future work will be sporadic and based on the projects I have available. What I'm Looking For I need someone who is comfortable with both the technical and design sides of WordPress. You should have experience with: Building and migrating WordPress websites Modern, professional website design Mobile/responsive design WordPress themes, plugins, and page builders HTML/CSS and basic PHP/JavaScript troubleshooting Domains, DNS, SSL, and hosting Backups, security, and updates Website performance Forms and email delivery Basic SEO and redirects I am not looking for someone who only installs a template and changes the text and pictures. You should be able to take a client's branding, services, content, and goals and turn them into a modern website that fits that particular business. I also want someone who can troubleshoot problems and make recommendations rather than simply following instructions when there may be a better solution. Communication You must be fluent and comfortable speaking and writing in English. You will work directly with me and may eventually communicate directly with my clients through voice or video calls. You should be professional and able to explain technical information to non-technical people. How to Apply Please keep your answers relatively short, but answer each question specifically. 1. Send me 3โ€“5 websites you personally worked on. For each one, briefly tell me what you personally designed or developed. If you used an existing theme or template, tell me that too. 2. Which website in your portfolio best represents your design ability, and why? 3. Tell me about one difficult WordPress problem you personally encountered. What caused it, how did you figure it out, and how did you fix it? 4. You are moving an existing business website into WordPress. What are the most important things you would check before replacing the old website? 5. What WordPress tools, themes, or page builders do you normally prefer, and why? 6. How comfortable are you with HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and PHP? Please be honest about what you can and cannot do. 7. Are you comfortable speaking directly with English-speaking clients over voice or video calls? 8. What is your expected hourly rate in USD, your time zone, and your general availability? I am looking for someone I can develop a long-term working relationship with. I don't expect you to know everything. If you don't know something, I would rather you tell me and research it than pretend to know the answer. Please do not send a generic application. I am primarily interested in seeing your work and understanding what you personally did on those projects. If you do not hear back from me, I apologize. It can be difficult to personally respond to every applicant, but I may keep strong applicants in mind for future projects.
