GAI is seeking an Engineering Team Lead (Engineer 2 Transmission Line) to join our Power Delivery team working remotely based in Homestead, PA. Required skills include transmission line design experience, critical thinking, problem solving, organization, team-focus with the ability to supervise & mentor junior staff, and eagerness to apply learned engineering principles to solve real life problems. The Engineering Team Lead (Engineer 2 Transmission Line) is responsible for technical leadership and the successful delivery of transmission line designs while maintaining the scope, schedule, budget, and quality of projects within GAI’s Transmission & Distribution Division. This individual should be technically focused and a strong leader with developed technical, communication, and computer skills. Competency - Knowledge of electric utility transmission line engineering and design. Job Responsibilities: - Complete day-to-day project tasks as required for successful project delivery. Tasks may include: - Preparation of Specification Packages - Preparation of Structural and Fabrication Drawings - Design and Analysis of Transmission Lines using PLS-CADD, PLS-POLE, and PLS-Tower is a bonus - Design and Analysis of foundations. - Analysis of existing and proposed structures with regard to Client and Other required codes, standards, and specifications. - Performance of Electrical Clearance checks and calculations. - Apply engineering principles to assist in the design of Power Delivery Projects. - Must demonstrate attention to detail. - Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills. - Perform complex tasks typically following established processes. - Implements effective engineering methods, provides technical guidance, and acts as a resource for engineers and designers. - Directly manages projects with no limit to the number or value of individual projects managed. Education and Training: - Bachelor’s degree from an ABET accredited college or university in engineering is required. Preferred a degree in Civil, or Electrical engineering. - PE License required - Comprehensive knowledge of transmission line design concepts and principles. - Demonstrated track record of external customer engagements and building and maintaining successful client relationships. - 6+ years of experience in transmission line design. - Required experience with PLS suite (PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE). - Preferred experience with PLS-TOWER and FAD Tools. Physical Requirements - Ability to work indoors in professional office settings. - Ability to sit for extended periods while performing computer-based tasks. - Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, writing, and handling office equipment. - Visual acuity to read printed materials, digital screens, detailed documents, and perform detailed work. - Occasional standing, walking, bending, or reaching within the office environment. Ability to move between workstations and attend in-person meetings. - Ability to lift and carry office materials or equipment weighing up to 10-20 pounds, with or without assistance. - Adequate hearing to participate in conversations, phone calls, and virtual meetings. - Ability to travel for meetings, training, or business purposes. Travel: - 10% General Characteristics - Applies broad knowledge of principles and practices in a specific practice area. - Independently evaluates, selects, and adapts standard techniques, procedures, and criteria. - Leads tasks and projects of moderately complex scopes. - Develops plans, specifications, and other project documents. - Selects appropriate principles of engineering economics, and probability and statistics to analyze risk in a complex engineering problem.
