Role Overview
The Global Patching Team Member plays a critical role in supporting the organization’s patch management program by executing patching activities across global IT environments. This position ensures systems remain secure, compliant, and up to date by applying patches to operating systems, applications, and infrastructure components according to established policies and schedules.
Key Responsibilities:
Patch Deployment:
- Execute patching tasks for servers, endpoints, and network devices following approved schedules and procedures.
- Validate successful patch installation and troubleshoot any failures or issues.
- Troubleshoot system, network, and application issues.
- Automate routine tasks using shell scripting or automation tools.
- Support cloud, virtualization, and container environments.
Compliance & Reporting:
- Maintain accurate records of patching activities and compliance status.
- Assist in generating reports for audits and internal reviews.
Coordination & Communication:
- Collaborate with regional IT teams and other stakeholders to minimize disruption during patching cycles.
- Communicate patching progress and escalate issues promptly.
Risk Awareness:
- Understand vulnerability priorities and ensure timely application of critical patches.
- Follow security best practices to reduce exposure to threats.
Continuous Improvement:
- Provide feedback on patching processes and suggest improvements.
- Learn and adapt to new patching tools and automation technologies.
Qualifications & Skills:
- Basic knowledge of patch management tools (e.g., SCCM, WSUS, Ivanti, BigFix).
- Familiarity with operating systems (Windows, Linux) and application patching.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills in a global environment.
- Experience with Linux distributions such as Ubuntu, CentOS, Rocky, Debian or RHEL.
- Knowledge of: Bash/Shell scripting
- Understanding of networking, security, and server management.
- Familiarity with Docker, Kubernetes, and cloud platforms is a plus.
- Strong problem-solving and communication skills.
Required Experience
Education:
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or related field (or equivalent work experience).
Professional Experience:
- 2+ years of experience in IT operations or system administration.
- Hands-on experience with patch management tools (e.g., SCCM, WSUS, Ivanti, BigFix).
- Familiarity with Windows and Linux operating systems patching processes.
- Basic understanding of cybersecurity principles and vulnerability management.
Preferred Experience:
- Exposure to global IT environments and distributed teams.
- Experience with automation, configuration, and scripting tools (Powershell, Bash, Ansible, Git, Puppet, Chef,...)
- Familiarity with container technologies like Docker, Kubernetes.
- Strong troubleshooting and analytical skills.
Soft Skills:
- Strong attention to detail and ability to follow standard operating procedures.
- Good communication and teamwork skills in a multicultural environment.
- Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple tasks.
