Work Schedule: This role is expected to align with the AU business hours (approx. 9 AM - 6 PM, Monday to Friday) for collaboration, but as a contractor, you’ll have flexibility in how you manage your time.

Role Overview: We are looking for a Senior Architectural Draftsperson to join a growing Australian residential construction team. This role is responsible for producing accurate, high-quality architectural drawings and documentation across various stages of the residential building process; from concept and tender through to building approval and construction.
You will work closely with internal teams, customers, councils, certifiers, engineers, surveyors, and other external consultants to ensure projects are accurately documented, compliant with Australian building requirements, and ready for construction.
Key Responsibilities:
- Monitor weekly workflow, prioritize tasks, track project progress, and proactively identify and resolve issues affecting deadlines.
- Produce accurate, high-quality architectural working drawings on time, from initial custom sketches and concept plans through to tender, contract, building approval, DA, and construction documentation.
- Prepare and manage detailed residential drawings, including site, earthworks, retaining, floor, roof, elevations, sections, schedules, facades, kitchens, bathrooms, slabs, electrical, landscape, structural, stormwater, 3D models, and other required documentation.
- Prepare amended plans and update documentation based on approved variations and project changes.
- Liaise and coordinate with councils, certifiers, planners, engineers, surveyors, and other external consultants to resolve design requirements and ensure projects are ready for construction.
- Manage building approval processes, including responding to authority requirements, preparing additional drawings and reports, and assisting with conditions of approval and application issues.
- Prepare and maintain standard construction details, detail registries, master drawings, facades, and ArchiCAD documentation and library structures.
- Ensure designs are safe, buildable, and compliant with applicable building codes, regulations, and legal requirements.
- Apply quality assurance processes and checklists to maintain accuracy and consistency across all drafting and design work.
- Review plans and documentation to identify potential issues, resolve discrepancies, and escalate risks to management when required.
- Develop and improve drafting systems, processes, and production standards in collaboration with the Design and Drafting Manager.
- Support the CRM team with 3D walkthrough creation and navigation when required.
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of construction practices, materials, building industry trends, and relevant standards through ongoing training and professional development.
- Follow company values, best-practice procedures, and quality standards while performing other duties reasonably required within the role.
