SAP ABAP Lead Global AMS
Job Summary:
We are looking for an experienced SAP ABAP Lead to manage technical support and development activities as part of a global AMS (Application Management Services) engagement. The role includes end-to-end delivery and coordination of ABAP development , Change Request (CR) implementation , and technical issue resolution across multiple SAP modules. This position requires working in the Mountain Time (MT) shift to ensure alignment with client operations in the USA.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead the ABAP development and technical support across SAP modules including ECC, S/4HANA (if applicable), and associated components.
- Manage the full lifecycle of Change Requests (CRs) , including technical design, development, unit testing, documentation, and transport management.
- Collaborate with functional teams to gather requirements and provide robust technical solutions.
- Perform issue analysis, debugging, RCA , and resolution of incidents and technical defects.
- Optimize ABAP code for performance tuning and ensure adherence to development standards and best practices.
- Maintain and enhance custom reports, interfaces, conversions, enhancements, and forms (RICEF).
- Support integration with non-SAP systems using EDI, IDocs, BAPIs, BDCs, and APIs.
- Ensure timely delivery with SLA/KPI compliance and accurate documentation.
- Work closely with offshore and onsite teams, participate in client calls, and manage stakeholder communication.
- Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior ABAP developers.
Required Skills & Experience:
- 6-8 years of strong hands-on experience in SAP ABAP development and support .
- Proficient in classic and advanced ABAP concepts including RICEF, OOPs, ALV, Smart Forms, SAP Scripts, BAPIs, BADIs, and User Exits.
- Experience with performance tuning , debugging, and code optimization.
- Familiarity with S/4HANA extensions , CDS views, and OData services is a strong plus.
- Understanding of ITSM tools like ServiceNow, Jira, or Remedy for incident and CR management.
- Experience working in AMS delivery models , including SLAs, ticket triaging, and minor/major enhancements.
- Good communication and collaboration skills with ability to work in a Mountain Time (MT) shift .
- Exposure to SAP Solution Manager (Charm, monitoring, transport) is an advantage.
Preferred Qualifications:
- SAP ABAP Certification is a plus.
- Experience with Agile methodologies and DevOps pipelines for SAP is advantageous.
Education:
- Bachelors or Masters degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field.
Shift: USA Coverage Mountain Time (MT)
Note: Additional compensation for night shift duties will be provided as per company policy. Transportation support may be arranged for late-night logouts, if applicable.
