We support ambitious students pursuing admission to some of the world's most competitive universities, including leading institutions in the United States, the United Kingdom, Canada, Australia, and other global destinations. At Route H, we believe that exceptional applications are built not only on academic achievement but also on intellectual curiosity, self-awareness, purpose, and authentic storytelling. Our counseling model combines strategic admissions guidance provided by Japanese counselors with individualized narrative development and essay mentorship delivered by experienced native English-speaking counselors. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ POSITION OVERVIEW Route H is seeking exceptional native English-speaking counselors to mentor high-achieving high school students throughout the self-reflection and essay components of the overseas university application process. However, this role goes far beyond proofreading or editing. Successful counselors help students identify meaningful experiences, clarify their values and aspirations, develop compelling personal narratives, and communicate their stories with authenticity and confidence. Counselors work closely with Route H's Japanese counselor team that oversees admissions strategy, university selection, scheduling, scholarship applications, parent communication, and overall student management. This is a mentorship-focused role centered on student growth, reflection, and communication. ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ KEY RESPONSIBILITIES ①Narrative Development & Essay Mentorship • Guide students through deep self-reflection, brainstorming, and story discovery • Help students identify experiences,and values that can form the foundation of compelling applications • Provide developmental feedback on: Common App Personal Essays Supplemental Essays UCAS Personal Statements Other University Essays • Support students in strengthening: Authenticity Clarity Structure Reflection Intellectual Engagement Personal Voice • Conduct one-on-one online meeting sessions (Between 1-4 a month) • Encourage students to take ownership of their applications while maintaining academic integrity ②Interview Preparation • Conduct mock interviews for university admissions • Help students communicate their ideas clearly and confidently • Provide feedback on verbal communication, self-presentation, and critical thinking ③Workshops (Route H Camp) & Team Collaboration • Facilitate or participate in Route H workshops and admissions-related sessions • Collaborate closely with Japanese admissions counselors regarding student progress and narrative direction • Contribute insights to strengthen Route H's counseling program ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ SCOPE OF ROLE Included Responsibilities • Essay mentoring and coaching • Narrative development • Brainstorming and self-reflection facilitation • Developmental editing and feedback • Interview preparation • Student mentorship • University selection and admissions strategy • Recommendation letter strategy Not Included The following responsibilities are managed primarily by Route H's Japanese counseling team: • Parent communication • Application timeline management • Japanese Scholarship strategy and planning • Japanese-language writing support • Administrative coordination ━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━━ IDEAL CANDIDATE We are looking for pr
