Publishing Assistant Intern / Publishing Operations Assistant

About the Opportunity We are seeking a detail-oriented, creative, and highly organized Publishing Assistant Intern / Publishing Operations Assistant to support book publishing, children’s media, educational content, curriculum products, author platforms, and digital publishing projects. This role is ideal for someone interested in publishing, books, writing, editing, children’s literature, faith-based media, educational products, digital products, author branding, and content production. The selected candidate will help organize, prepare, update, and promote books, workbooks, companion guides, curricula, digital products, and related media assets across multiple platforms. Key Responsibilities • Assist with organizing manuscripts, book files, illustrations, covers, worksheets, curricula, and publishing assets • Support formatting, proofreading, editing, and quality checks for books and digital products • Help prepare product descriptions, author bios, back-cover copy, sales pages, and promotional copy • Research publishing platforms, distributors, keywords, categories, and comparable books • Support Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Shopify, website, or digital product listing preparation • Assist with launch checklists, publishing timelines, and promotional calendars • Help repurpose book content into blogs, captions, email content, reels, carousels, worksheets, and lead magnets • Organize testimonials, reviews, media mentions, and book-related assets • Support author-brand content connected to books, music, children’s media, courses, and speaking • Help maintain publishing trackers, ISBN records, metadata, pricing, and version-control systems • Research podcasts, media outlets, bookstores, schools, churches, libraries, and events for book promotion • Use AI tools responsibly to support drafting, editing, research, formatting checks, and content repurposing Preferred Qualifications • Strong writing, editing, proofreading, and organization skills • Excellent written English • Interest in publishing, books, children’s media, education, faith-based content, or digital products • Familiarity with Canva, Google Workspace, Microsoft Word, Adobe, Kindle Create, Atticus, Vellum, or similar tools is a plus • Experience with Amazon KDP, IngramSpark, Shopify, Etsy, or digital product platforms is a plus • Strong attention to detail and ability to manage file versions carefully • Ability to follow checklists and meet deadlines • Comfort using AI tools while still verifying accuracy and preserving brand voice What You Will Gain • Hands-on experience in book publishing and digital product development • Exposure to author branding, children’s media, educational products, and content marketing • Portfolio-building experience with real publishing assets • Mentorship and professional development • Potential academic credit where approved by the student’s institution • Potential consideration for future paid project, contract, or employment opportunities based on funding, performance, business need, and role availability Who Will Thrive in This Role You may be a strong fit if you love books, details, storytelling, clean formatting, organized files, powerful words, and helping creative ideas become finished products.
