Position Summary
The Pathology Solutions Consultant serves as the primary pathology operations consultant supporting pathology laboratories, healthcare providers, and internal stakeholders to optimize specimen management, laboratory workflows, and operational performance for molecular and precision medicine testing.
This customer-facing individual contributor partners closely with pathology laboratories to evaluate current-state operations, identify workflow improvement opportunities, and implement best practices that improve specimen quality, testing success rates, laboratory efficiency, and customer outcomes. The Pathology Solutions Consultant collaborates extensively with Commercial, Laboratory Operations, Information Systems, Compliance, Product Management, and other cross-functional teams to deliver customer-centric operational solutions that support successful testing and advance precision medicine initiatives.
Job Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary subject matter expert for pathology workflows, specimen management requirements, and laboratory operations supporting molecular and precision medicine testing.
- Conduct comprehensive onsite and virtual pathology workflow assessments to evaluate laboratory operations and identify opportunities for process optimization.
- Partner with pathology laboratories to improve specimen acquisition, handling, preservation, storage, submission practices, and overall laboratory workflow efficiency.
- Develop and implement consultative recommendations that improve specimen quality, testing success rates, turnaround times, and operational performance.
- Collaborate with Commercial teams to assess customer operational needs and develop tailored workflow improvement strategies.
- Build and maintain trusted relationships with pathology laboratory leadership by serving as a strategic operational consultant throughout the customer lifecycle.
- Lead onsite customer engagements, workflow mapping sessions, laboratory assessments, and operational reviews with pathology and laboratory leadership.
- Develop implementation plans supporting adoption of standardized workflows, operational best practices, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Monitor customer progress following implementation, identify barriers to success, and recommend corrective actions to sustain operational improvements.
- Develop and deliver educational programs for pathology personnel focused on specimen collection, handling, preservation, submission requirements, workflow optimization, and operational best practices.
- Create educational materials, workflow documentation, presentations, and implementation resources supporting customer adoption and ongoing process improvement.
- Evaluate pathology performance metrics, operational data, testing outcomes, specimen quality, turnaround times, and workflow efficiency to assess laboratory performance.
