About the Role

Reporting to the Director of Regional & Sectoral Pathways, the Ontario Lead will drive the development and implementation of strategies aimed at reducing emissions and bolstering economic development in Ontario, while ensuring provincial insights meaningfully inform national initiatives. The role focuses on identifying strategic priorities, gaps, and intervention points in Ontario’s low-carbon transition, and working with industry, governments, and other partners to translate those priorities into coordinated action. By leveraging Ontario’s strengths in clean energy, industry, and innovation, the Ontario Lead will support decision-makers with clear strategies that align climate ambition with economic opportunity.
Duties and Responsibilities
Strategic Development & Positioning

- Lead the development and execution of a focused Transition Accelerator strategy for Ontario, including setting priorities, sequencing interventions, and identifying critical gaps in the low-carbon landscape.

- Determine where the Transition Accelerator can provide the greatest strategic value to Ontario stakeholders, including utilities, provincial government, industry, municipalities, and Indigenous partners.

- Design strategic intervention points and partnerships that leverage TA’s expertise to accelerate Ontario’s transition to a competitive, carbon-neutral economy.

Regional Leadership & Strategy

- Provide ongoing strategic leadership on Ontario’s transition by maintaining a clear, credible perspective on the province’s economic, energy, and industrial context.

- Identify and advance opportunities that strengthen Ontario’s competitiveness in the low-carbon transition, with particular attention to the province’s energy system and industrial strengths.

- Ensure Ontario priorities, constraints, and opportunities are clearly articulated within the Accelerator’s broader regional and national strategy.

Project Execution & Management

- Lead the development and delivery of an Ontario Regional Decision-Support tool that clarifies transition pathways and economic opportunities associated with Ontario’s path to carbon neutrality.

- Oversee project execution to ensure analytical outputs are timely, decision-relevant, and aligned with stakeholder needs.
