Online Mechanical Engineering Technology / Civil Engineering Technology Adjunct

ECPI University is seeking Mechanical Engineering Technology and Civil Engineering Technology Instructors to teach undergraduate students in a hands-on, career-focused environment.

This is an excellent opportunity for engineering professionals looking to transition into education— no prior teaching experience required . We provide comprehensive training, mentoring, and ongoing faculty support to help you succeed.

Classes are delivered in 5-week accelerated terms with small class sizes , allowing for personalized instruction. Evening and weekend availability is required to support our adult learners.
Key Responsibilities

- Teach undergraduate Mechanical or Civil Engineering Technology courses

- Deliver engaging, hands-on instruction aligned with industry practices

- Support student learning in a fast-paced, 5-week course format

- Provide guidance, mentorship, and academic support to students

- Troubleshoot basic technical/software issues for students as needed

- Participate in scheduled live sessions and office hours (online faculty)

Qualifications

Education

- Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related field
OR

- Master’s degree with 18+ graduate semester hours in the discipline

- Ph.D. preferred

Experience

- Minimum 1+ year of relevant industry experience required (7+ years preferred)

- Industry experience must be within the past 5 years

- Teaching, training, or mentoring experience is a plus

Technical Skills

Required:
- Experience with AutoCAD, Inventor, or other 3D design software

Mechanical Engineering Technology (Preferred):

- Machine Tool Technology

- CNC G-Code programming

- CAD/CAM software

Civil Engineering Technology (Required):

- Geomatics & Surveying

- Fluid Science

Additional Areas of Interest:

- Drafting & Modeling

- Engineering Mechanics

- Manufacturing & Machining

- Machine Design & FEA

- Thermal & Fluid Sciences

Mechatronics Candidates:
- Background in control systems, instrumentation, and mechanical systems

Certifications (If Applicable)
- Relevant technical certifications or professional licensure

- High level of integrity and professionalism

- Strong time management in an accelerated learning environment

- Comfortable using technology and troubleshooting basic issues

Online Faculty Requirements

- Reliable high-speed internet connection

- Windows-based computer and webcam (must meet ECPI requirements)

- Ability to teach one live session and hold weekly virtual office hours via Zoom
