Position Type: 12-Month Contract with the possibility of conversion to a permanent role
Reports to: Director of Programs and Community Development
About the Role

Digital Moment is seeking a senior Learning Experience Designer to help us bring our learning content into a new era - designing applied AI education and translating powerful in-person learning experiences into effective self-paced digital learning on our platform.

Your anchor project is funded and concrete: design and produce a 40-hour applied AI apprenticeship course. This starts with building a modular, competency-based AI curriculum system - a framework and module library covering AI foundations, practical AI use, responsible AI, and career pathways - with its first application serving a diverse cohort of youth who are not currently in education, employment, or training (NEET).

But the role is bigger than one course. Over the contract, you will help convert our existing catalog of educator and youth content into instructionally sound, self-paced digital experiences, and originate new content for audiences we're just beginning to serve — including parents, small businesses, and seniors. You'll work embedded within our Programs team, partnering closely with Digital Product, and demonstrating what great digital learning looks like by building it.

This is a senior individual contributor role for someone who operates with autonomy, originates content rather than only adapting it, and wins people over by proof rather than persuasion.
What You'll Do

1. Design and deliver the AI apprenticeship course (anchor project)

- Develop an applied AI competency framework: the knowledge, skills, behaviors, and confidence the curriculum builds, from foundational through intermediate levels.

- Design a modular curriculum architecture - module categories, sequencing logic, standards for structure and assessment, and guidelines for combining modules into programs of different lengths and focuses.

- Develop the library of learning modules across areas such as AI foundations, practical AI use (prompting, AI-supported workflows, no-code tools), responsible AI (ethics, bias, privacy, human oversight), and application pathways (problem-solving, sector use cases, careers, entrepreneurship).

- Produce complete, delivery-ready learning materials, including a comprehensive facilitator guide that enables trained Digital Moment facilitators to deliver the program without you in the room, so it can scale across a growing facilitator network and be translated into self-paced digital formats.

- Configure the modules into the apprenticeship pathway for our first cohort, including applied projects and a flexible capstone model, and validate coherence, pacing, and progression.

- Build flexible assessment and impact-measurement tools (baseline/endline surveys, knowledge checks, rubrics) aligned with program and funder reporting needs.

2. Adapt the catalog for digital

- Convert existing educator and youth content into instructionally sound, self-paced learning experiences on our digital platform.

- Design within platform constraints and in step with the platform roadmap, in close partnership with our Digital Product Manager.

- Establish reusable patterns and standards for in-person-to-digital conversion that others can follow.

3. Originate content for new audiences, ensuring inclusivity and cultural awareness

- Build toward learning experiences for new audiences over time, including parents sole proprietors, and seniors.

- Originate new content where no in-house playbook exists, working with program staff as subject-matter reviewers and validating with real users (e.g., advisory groups, user testing).

- Design for self-directed adult learners: low-time, motivation-driven, and coming in with widely varying confidence and AI literacy.

4. Measure, maintain, and model

- Gather participant and facilitator feedback; iterate on modules and materials.

- Keep AI-re
