Grant Writer & Funding Research Assistant

About the Opportunity We are seeking a talented, detail-oriented, and mission-driven Grant Writer & Funding Research Assistant to help identify, research, develop, and support competitive funding opportunities across a diverse portfolio of high-impact initiatives. Our work spans education, artificial intelligence, healthcare, accessibility, special education, housing, real estate and community development, youth and family services, economic mobility, workforce development, media, technology, and social impact. The ideal candidate is both a strong researcher and a persuasive writer who can connect community needs, organizational strategy, measurable outcomes, evidence, and compelling storytelling to the priorities of funders. This role may support nonprofit, philanthropic, corporate, foundation, local, state, and federal funding opportunities. Depending on experience, the selected candidate may contribute to grants ranging from smaller foundation requests to complex public-sector and innovation-focused opportunities. Key Responsibilities • Research foundation, corporate, local, state, federal, and other funding opportunities • Identify grants aligned with organizational mission, programs, geography, eligibility, and strategic priorities • Review Requests for Proposals, Notices of Funding Opportunities, grant guidelines, and funder requirements • Evaluate grant opportunities for eligibility, competitiveness, strategic fit, capacity, and return on effort • Maintain grant prospect databases, funding calendars, and deadline trackers • Draft and edit grant proposals, letters of inquiry, concept papers, executive summaries, and application responses • Support development of compelling needs statements, program descriptions, organizational narratives, and sustainability plans • Research credible statistics, community needs, demographic data, industry trends, and evidence-based practices • Help develop goals, objectives, outputs, outcomes, logic models, and evaluation narratives • Support budget narratives and alignment between program activities, outcomes, and proposed expenses • Organize standard grant attachments, institutional documents, biographies, letters of support, and reusable content • Coordinate information needed from leadership, program teams, finance professionals, partners, and external stakeholders • Track submitted, pending, awarded, declined, and upcoming opportunities • Support grant reporting and post-award documentation where appropriate • Research prospective foundations, corporate partners, government agencies, and philanthropic relationships • Use AI tools responsibly for research support, drafting assistance, editing, and workflow efficiency while independently verifying facts, citations, eligibility requirements, and source data Preferred Qualifications • Strong persuasive and professional writing skills • Excellent research and analytical skills • Exceptional attention to detail • Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, compelling narratives • Strong written English • Ability to manage multiple deadlines and application requirements • Familiarity with nonprofit, foundation, corporate, or government grants is preferred • Experience with grant databases, prospect research, public funding portals, or funding research tools is a plus • Familiarity with logic models, program evaluation, outcomes measurement, or evidence-based practices is a plus • Experience in educat
