About the Role
We are a dynamic and fast-growing company looking for a Fund Accountant to join our team. This role supports the accounting for investment entities holding a residential property portfolio. It's well suited to someone with a fund or real estate accounting background who is comfortable owning close deliverables end to end.
What You'll Do
Fund and Entity Accounting
Prepare day-to-day accounting for investment entities including journal entries for property acquisitions and sales
Complete monthly, quarterly, and year-end closes for assigned entities on schedule
Prepare monthly balance sheet reconciliations and schedules for amortization, accruals, and true-ups
Record and verify intercompany transactions including A/R and A/P between entities
Analyze property-related and investment transactions for accuracy, completeness, and reasonableness
Work closely with property managers and the internal real estate team on financial reporting
Financial Reporting and Analysis
Prepare investment-vehicle reporting including monthly financial statements and lender covenant tests
Assist with preparation of monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements
Prepare variance analysis with commentary on P&L and balance sheet fluctuations versus prior periods and budget
Audit, Process and Ad Hoc Support
Support the annual GAAP audit, compile schedules, respond to audit requests, and assist with testing of internal controls
Develop and maintain SOPs and desktop procedures for assigned accounting areas
Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation
Support ad hoc research projects and management presentations
What We're Looking For
At least 2 years of experience in fund accounting, real estate accounting, or property accounting
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
NetSuite experience is required
Advanced proficiency in Excel is required
Strong understanding of U.S. GAAP and general ledger accounting
Experience in a multi-entity environment is preferred
Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail
Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
Self-motivated and comfortable taking ownership of assigned areas
