We are an established Australian digital marketing agency. We build lead generation systems for construction, trade and home service businesses: solar, electrical, air conditioning, plumbing, bathrooms and builders. We run the Meta and Google advertising for these clients, and we design and build the websites and landing pages the traffic lands on.
We are running this ad without our company name on it, on purpose. We will tell you exactly who we are on the first call. We are a small, fast, AI first team and you will work directly with the company director.
THE ROLE
Design it, build it and ship it live. Both halves, not one.
We are not looking for a designer who hands off a Figma file, and we are not looking for a developer who needs to be told what it should look like. We want the person who can take a blank page and a client brief and end up with a fast, sharp, live website that converts, with the DNS pointed correctly and the tracking firing.
Two kinds of work land on your desk. Sometimes it is a brand new custom website from nothing. Just as often a client arrives with a tired old WordPress site somebody else built five years ago, and you have to look at it and make the call: fix this, or rebuild it. Then do whichever you chose. We need someone comfortable with both.
WHAT YOU WILL DO
Design
- Design complete custom websites for construction and service businesses: sitemap, wireframes, full visual design, then build it
- Design landing pages for Meta and Google ad campaigns, where the page has to match the promise made in the ad and turn a click into an enquiry
- Real design craft: layout, typography, spacing, hierarchy, colour, restraint. You know the difference between decorated and designed
- Corporate and professional sensibility. Our clients are builders, electricians and solar companies. The work has to look credible, established and trustworthy
- We write the page copy and give it to you. You do not need to be a copywriter. You do need to lay copy out so it reads well, and tell us when a headline is too long for the design instead of shrinking the font to make it fit
Build, across platforms
- We want someone genuinely capable across several platforms, not a one platform specialist: - WordPress. Themes, page builders, plugins, and custom work when the builder runs out of road - Webflow - Custom code: HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and React or Next.js with Tailwind, deployed on Vercel or Cloudflare Pages - Shopify or Framer if you have them - GoHighLevel funnels, as one tool among many
- GitHub for version control on every project. Branches, commits, pull requests
Inheriting other people's WordPress sites
- A client hands you a five year old WordPress site. You can open it up, work out what is actually going on in there, and tell us honestly whether it is worth saving or whether we should rebuild
- If it is worth saving: fix it. Broken layouts, dead plugins, bloated themes, forms that stopped sending, pages that load in eleven seconds
- Update plugins, themes and PHP versions without taking the site down, and take a backup before you touch anything
- Spot and clean up the obvious security problems that come with a neglected site: abandoned plugins, outdated core, no backups, no SSL
- Migrate a site to different hosting without downtime, and know how that interacts with DNS
Responsive, which we care about a lot
- Every site has to work properly on a phone, on a tablet and on a desktop. Not "it technically loads on mobile". It has to look designed on a phone
- Most of our traffic comes from people tapping an ad on their phone. If the mobile version is an afterthought, the whole build has failed
- Test on real screen sizes before you call something finished
- Fast. You care about page speed and Core Web Vitals, and you know that a heavy hero image costs enquiries
DNS and domains, which you must genuinely know
- Point domains at hosting correctly and confidently: A records, CNAMEs, root versus
