The team
The DE Compliance team is an autonomous group of specialists dedicated to ensuring iwoca remains a safe and trusted partner for German SMEs. The team works at the intersection of technology and risk, collaborating closely with Tech, Operations, and Risk Management to build robust detection systems. The team operates in an agile environment, meeting regularly to share insights on the latest fraud trends and collaborating on cross-functional projects to stay ahead of evolving threats.
The role
The Fraud Manager role provides the opportunity to shape the security and integrity of our digital lending products. You will have the autonomy to identify emerging risks and the influence to implement the technical and strategic solutions needed to mitigate them.
Impact and Influence

Risk Identification: proactively evaluate and mitigate emerging cross-channel fraud scenarios, including Third-Party fraud (identity theft, account takeover / ATOs, synthetic identities), First-Party fraud (loan stacking, application misrepresentation, intentional bust-outs), while designing an effective fraud prevention framework.

Market Strategy: formulate and adapt the fraud strategy specifically for the German digital lending market to maintain an optimal balance between risk and conversion.

Process Optimisation: design efficient verification processes that protect the business without adding unnecessary friction for our customers.

Reporting & Governance: define key fraud metrics and build structured reporting frameworks for senior leadership and regulatory bodies.
Innovation and Collaboration

Partner with Tech and Data teams to implement automated detection mechanisms, including machine learning models and rule-based systems.

Guide the selection of vendors and introduction of innovative technologies to optimise the fraud prevention toolkit.

Develop and lead training programs to raise fraud awareness across the company and with our external partners.
The requirements
Essential:

Experience: Proven experience in fraud management or a related compliance field, ideally within a Fintech, digital banking or lending environment.

Regulatory Knowledge: Solid familiarity with fraud prevention frameworks, coupled with the ability to navigate local lending market compliance, including AML and KYC standards.

Analytical Mindset: Strong analytical skills with the ability to translate complex data into actionable prevention measures.

Network & Tools: Familiarity with market-specific risk landscapes, including hands-on experience managing relationships and tools with local credit bureaus and KYC providers.

Mindset & Team Collaboration: A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and the ability to work effectively within agile, cross-functional teams.

Language Skills: Fluency in German and English.
