The Area Field Service Manager (AFSM) focuses on operational excellence and profitable growth in the electrical service (ELSE) market. This leader demonstrates accountability for area business performance including health and safety, productivity, quality, and critical financial metrics.
This role leads a team of high-performing field tech service resources dispatched across the district area to deliver preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, commissioning and modernization solutions for ABB customers. This leader manages workshops effectively in the district to deliver shop-based repairs and modernization offerings.
The AFSM is a strong people-leader with a sharp and focused operational mindset. They drive a strong daily focus on safe, high quality, timely execution. They communicate frequently and effectively. They collaborate and support other ABB regional service groups and functional teams. They lead strategic growth priorities in the district area and are passionate about customer success.
The AFSM works closely with Sales and Commercial teams and partners with them to deliver world-class solutions for ABB customers. This leader is comfortable working with teams at customer sites and in ABB facilities.
The work location for the role is Remote from California (preferably Sacramento), or other surrounding areas: Oregon, Washington, and Colorado.
You will be mainly accountable for:

Ensuring customer retention by delivering superior customer service experience in field service activities.

Driving continuous improvement of field service quality, enabling a first-time-right implementation.

Steering performance of the field service activities by following up on Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) and driving corrective actions based on them.

Guiding a continuous improvement culture and the implementation of improvements to achieve service excellence in your area of responsibility.
Qualifications for the role

Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or Business Field with 5-8 years’ experience, or no degree and at least 8 years of relevant experience

Knowledge of field service operations a must
- Demonstrated strong leadership skills

Strong communicator and team-oriented mind set

Strong planning and prioritization skills

Must have a strong reputation for customer focus

Must be familiar with and have practical experience with SAP, MS Word, MS Project, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint, and other office software

Must be able to read Engineering drawings and specifications

Experience in dealing with the cultural diversity of a global business environment

Maintain high standards for safety and housekeeping and assure compliance with all environmental regulations

Currently authorized to work and live in the US
-
Must be willing to travel up to 50% of time
