Our Client is a Sydney-based residential construction company that specialises in architecturally designed homes, including new builds, renovations, extensions, and additions. The company focuses on bespoke residential projects and works closely with architects, designers, and homeowners to deliver high-end custom homes.
JOB SUMMARY:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Estimator to support the delivery of residential and commercial construction projects from tender through to project completion. The role is responsible for preparing accurate cost estimates, producing BOQs, coordinating trade pricing, supporting tender submissions, and assisting with project setup and closeout documentation.
The successful candidate will have strong construction estimating experience, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work across multiple software platforms including estimating, project management, and documentation systems. This role requires a high level of attention to detail, commercial awareness, and the ability to collaborate effectively with trades, consultants, and internal project teams.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
ECI (Early Contractor Involvement) Cost Estimating

Review architectural plans and project documentation to determine project scope and quantities.

Prepare preliminary cost estimates based on early-stage designs and project requirements.

Liaise with subcontractors and suppliers to obtain pricing and scope confirmations.

Compile and present detailed cost estimates using estimating software and Microsoft Office tools.
BOQ & Tender Estimating

Accurately measure quantities and prepare Bills of Quantities (BOQs) from detailed construction drawings.

Coordinate tender documentation distribution to subcontractors and suppliers.

Manage trade pricing requests, follow-ups, RFIs, and scope clarifications throughout the tender process.

Review and validate subcontractor quotations to ensure all required project scope items are captured.

Cross-check trade pricing for completeness, accuracy, and budget alignment.
Project Setup & Closeout Support

Build awarded projects into project management software, including budgets, cost codes, and financial structures. (Project value between 2-10million AUD)

Support project teams with accurate financial setup and documentation management.

Coordinate collection of Occupation Certificate (OC) documentation, compliance certificates, and consultant approvals.

Prepare client handover documentation packs upon project completion.

Maintain organised project records, correspondence, and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
Requirements
SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Minimum 5+ yearsβ experience in construction estimating, quantity take-offs, or tender coordination within the construction industry.

Strong ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and construction documentation accurately.

Proven experience preparing BOQs, coordinating subcontractor pricing, and reviewing tender submissions.

High attention to detail with strong numerical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.

Excellent organisational and time management skills with the ability to manage multiple tenders and deadlines simultaneously.

Strong communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to liaise effectively with trades, suppliers, consultants, and internal teams.
