EconoSourcing is recruiting on behalf of a behavioral health client seeking a highly organized and clinically knowledgeable Documentation Specialist to support their clinical team remotely. This role is ideal for a mental health professional who excels at the administrative and documentation side of care delivery and wants to contribute meaningfully to a client-centered practice without carrying a direct caseload.
You will work closely with licensed clinicians to ensure that client records are accurate, compliant, and completed on time. Attention to detail, discretion, and a deep respect for clinical and ethical standards are essential. Every document you touch represents a real person receiving care — precision and confidentiality are non-negotiable.
What You Will Do
Clinical Documentation Support
Draft, enter, and format progress notes under direct clinician supervision, ensuring accuracy and alignment with clinical intent.
Support clinicians in completing session documentation within required timeframes to maintain compliance and continuity of care.
Assist in addressing documentation backlogs promptly and systematically without compromising quality or compliance.
Review documentation for completeness, consistency, and adherence to applicable standards before submission.
Client Records & Consent Management
Assist with the preparation, completion, and tracking of client consents and intake documentation.
Maintain organized, up-to-date, and fully compliant client records across all active and archived files.
Ensure all documentation is stored, labeled, and accessible in accordance with HIPAA and applicable confidentiality standards.
Flag missing, expired, or incomplete consents and coordinate resolution with the clinical team.
Clinical Team Coordination
Coordinate with clinicians, supervisors, and administrative staff to ensure documentation deadlines are consistently met.
Serve as a reliable point of contact for documentation-related questions and workflow issues.
Support cross-functional documentation tasks as directed, ensuring all work streams remain connected and cohesive.
Communicate proactively when documentation gaps, errors, or compliance risks are identified.
Compliance & Confidentiality
Handle all client information with the highest standards of confidentiality and professionalism.
Apply working knowledge of HIPAA regulations and clinical documentation best practices in every task.
Maintain awareness of state and federal requirements governing behavioral health records.
Never access, share, or use client information outside the scope of assigned duties.
What We Are Looking For
Clinical Knowledge
You hold a Master’s degree or higher in a mental health-related field and understand how clinical documentation functions within a behavioral health practice. You know what a progress note should contain, why accuracy matters clinically and legally, and how to support a licensed clinician without overstepping scope.
Discretion & Confidentiality
You treat every piece of client information as sacred. You understand HIPAA not as a checkbox but as a professional obligation. You do not need to be reminded to protect privacy; it is instinctive.
Organization & Reliability
You thrive in detail-heavy environments. You manage multiple documentation tasks simultaneously without letting deadlines slip or records fall out of order. When a backlog exists, you approach it methodically and communicate your progress clearly.
Communication & Collaboration
You work well within a clinical team structure, following direction from licensed supervisors while contributing your expertise in documentation management. You ask clarifying questions when needed and flag issues before they become problems.
Required Qualifications
Master’s degree or higher in a mental health-related field (Psychology, Counseling, Social Work, or related discipline).
Working knowledge of HIPAA and behavioral health confident
