Position Summary:

Pay: $15.00 per hour Do you enjoy mentoring others and helping future veterinary professionals succeed? The Adjunct Instructor โ€“ Vet Tech Externship Evaluator supports Veterinary Academy students as they complete their clinical externships by reviewing skill submissions and providing constructive, student-centered feedback. This role is ideal for a Credentialed Veterinary Technician who enjoys mentoring others, sharing their veterinary knowledge, and helping learners build confidence and competency in entry-level clinical skills. Successful evaluators balance quality, consistency, and student support while creating a positive learning experience.
Essential Job Functions:

- Review and evaluate student externship skill submissions using established grading criteria.

- Provide clear, supportive, and constructive written feedback that promotes student growth and learning.

- Apply professional judgment when evaluating skill submissions while maintaining consistency and fairness.

- Identify safety concerns, OSHA violations, and academic integrity issues when appropriate.

- Communicate with students and the Veterinary Academy externship team in a timely manner.

- Maintain accurate grading and evaluation records.

- Participate in required training, meetings, and accreditation activities as needed.

Schedule & Performance Expectations:

- Part-time position averaging 20-25 hours per week.

- Flexible schedule with consistent weekly availability required.

- Review a minimum of 75 student skills every seven days while maintaining established turnaround times.

- Notify leadership if unavailable to evaluate skills for 72 consecutive hours.

Required Qualifications:

- Associate degree from an AVMA-accredited Veterinary Technology program.

- Current Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT, RVT, LVT, or equivalent) in good standing.

- Minimum of 2 years of veterinary clinical experience.

- Strong written communication skills.

- Ability to provide constructive, encouraging, and student-focused feedback.

- Strong organizational and time management skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

- 3-5 years of veterinary clinical experience.

- Background serving as a trainer, mentor, preceptor, lead technician, or onboarding resource.

- Diverse clinical experience across multiple veterinary practice environments.

- Familiarity with online learning environments or remote instruction.

- Fear Free Certification.

Work Environment & Hiring Requirements

- Role Assessment: Candidates will be required to complete a role-specific assessment as the first step in the hiring process. Assessment results will be used to evaluate alignment with the position and determine next steps in the process.

- Recorded Video Interviews: All video interviews conducted during the hiring process will be recorded to support internal hiring consistency and process improvement.

- Identity Verification (Form I-9): As part of our onboarding process, all hires must complete employment eligibility verification in compliance with federal law. - On-Camera Work Environment: We operate in a highly collaborative, remote, on-camera culture when working remotely. Employees are expected to be on camera during meetings unless extenuating circumstances apply.
